My creative process always begins with an effort to take inventory of my surroundings. How do the people, places and institutions within my sphere of observation command my commentary? I respond most immediately to the diverging and varied array of visual signifiers that I notice living in an American city.

     

     My objective is to use painting and photography to combine these worlds of imagery in ways that are formally compelling. Additionally, I explore whether these realities are negotiable, such as to allow for the possibility of experiences that are meaningful, fulfilling, satisfying and just.
