I consider my recent images to be portraits, though not always in the literal sense. My creative process begins with an inventory of my surroundings. Living in an American city, I notice the unique and often diverging visual signifiers of the various aspects of life, and notions of desirability. Cities offer promises as well as challenges.

     

     My objective is to utilize these elements in ways that are formally compelling and conceptually engaging. In so doing, I aim to offer a context in which we can reexamine our purposes, our institutions, and our circumstances with a greater degree of awareness.
